Rev Chris McQuillen-Wright

Chair of Governors

Chris has been an active school governor since 2000, predominantly at St Columb Minor School which became an academy in 2011 and formed a Multi Academy Trust with two other primary schools in 2013, now part of the Kernow Learning Multi Academy Trust.

Chris has fulfilled many responsibilities, including the ‘Responsible Officer’ for St Columb Minor Academy until it became an academy. He also has extensive experience of applying statutory procedures within his governance role e.g. investigating officer, exclusions panel, admissions appeals, grievance panel, staff appeals panel and so on, which will enable him to support the new governing body.

Chris also has experience of working with and being an active member of three different charities. He has been the Chair of the Dreadnought Centre in Redruth. Dreadnought providing support and care to children and young people. He has been the Vice-Chair of the St Petroc’s Society which provide a range of services aimed at ending street homelessness in Cornwall. Chris says; “My children keep me grounded and my wife honest. My poetry gives an expression to the moral and ethical dilemmas confronted in the world. The Priest in me calls me to serve others, the athlete keeps me strong mentally and physically. The author teaches me that everyone has something to give, it is just don’t judge a fish by its ability to climb trees!”
