Welcome

Kernow Learning will open a 210 place primary school and 26 place nursery to serve the families of Penwithick and St Austell as well as the emerging new community within the West Carclaze Garden Village.  The expected date of opening is September 2022 or sooner.

"Thank you for your interest in the proposed new school and nursery.  We will put our heart and soul into providing an outstanding education for the children of this new school which, due to its location, will have unrivalled outdoor based learning."  Jennie Walker, ACE Trust CEO

"We will provide the resources and learning opportunities for all pupils attending Sky Primary and Eden Project Nursery to become global citizens and be aware of how they can all make a difference to the way in which we live.  These pupils will have access to an exciting and enriched curriculum that will extend well beyond their classroom giving them hands-on real life experiences.  Please contact us with your questions and sign-up to our newsletters to keep up-to-date as the project develops."  Gill Harper, Kernow Learning Business Director and Project Lead

FAQ's

From reading the newsletter that I was emailed it says the school is going to be open in time for September 2021 intake, is this still the case?

Although we can’t be certain at this stage, it is unlikely that we will be granted a provisional opening date of September 2021 due to several factors being considered by the Department for Education.

The situation is being kept under review and once the development of the new Garden Village progresses with the first phase of houses being built and occupied, this will produce the evidence of basic need and agreement from the DFE of an opening date for the school.

What will the class sizes be

Class sizes throughout the school will be set at 30 pupils per class. The school can be required to go over this number in exceptional circumstances. It is not anticipated that the school will be required to take pupils over this number due to pupil number forecasts for the St Austell area.
