Links with the Eden Project

The Eden Project, located less than three miles from the new school site, has a rich ethos that mirrors the vision for the curriculum focus at Sky - to explore how people can work with each other, and with nature towards a better future.

Eden’s approach to education fosters a deep connection to the natural world, the knowledge and thinking skills to understand and manage the complex problems we face, and the development of people who are inspired and have the skills, creativity and imagination to work together solve the challenges they face, and create a world that is better than we found it.

Eden's involvement in the school is both in the nursery and the school.   They will support and advise in the following areas:-

  • development of and curriculum delivery development and delivery of a values-led curriculum
  • the recruitment of nursery staff probably wouldn’t include this
  • supporting coaching and mentoring
  • delivering training
  • quality assurance
They will also support us more broadly across the across the Trust. Sam Kendall, Education Manager at the Eden Project, is a Trust Member at Kernow Learning.  They will support in training and best practice in nature-based and outdoor learning as well as global citizenship and environmental sustainability.
Eden and ACE MAT committed to a MoU in October 2016 agreeing to both parties working at risk during the initial planning phase, originally for a school opening date of September 2019. The two organisations are now developing a license agreement for the nursery provision in which, the Eden Project brand, promotional and communications support will be given in addition to the list above for an annual fee. There is the potential for other nurseries in the Trust to buy into similar support in due course if the nursery adheres to the Eden Project Nursery quality standards.
